EGRESSOS DO CURSO TÉCNICO EM AGROPECUÁRIA: UM ESTUDO DE CASO NO INSTITUTO FEDERAL GOIANO – CÂMPUS RIO VERDE

Abstract

The present work aims to analyze the qualification of the technicians alumni of the Farming Technical Course from Instituto Federal Goiano – Rio Verde-GO Campus, for acting in professional activities in local companies. Therefore, a research has been performed to name the companies and the alumni from the referred course in order to contribute, if necessary, with the improvement of the concerned course, suggesting possible adjustments in its curriculum. The premise of this work is to answer some questions, such as: What is the contribution from Instituto Federal Goiano for local development? Is the qualification of the farming technicians that graduated in the referred institution fulfilling the requirements of professional activities in the local companies? The used methodology was qualitative and quantitative analysis. Then, proceeding to a great literature review, through books, magazines and scientific articles; a field research along with companies in the district of Rio Verde so as to identify the alumni from the Farming Technical Course – Rio Verde Campus to take part in this study, besides a documental analysis of the Pedagogic Project of the course (PPC – Projeto Pedagógico do Curso, in Portuguese) and the participants’ scholar registers. The applied tool to evaluate the alumni’s qualification was an online survey, using Google Forms, elaborated with questions focused especially on the technological advances and cross topics (group work, human relations, professional ethics, motivation, and others) in the technicians’ education. The results showed that the technological development approach was reasonable, although, concerning the cross topics, it was rather disappointing, considering that most of the alumni answered that the perspective on the referred topics in their formation leads to a greater importance regarding the technological progress. Thus, after analyzing the research results, it is suggested that the learning institution rethink its curricular components from the Pedagogic Project of the Farming Technical Course, aiming to fulfill the gaps pointed by the alumni, engaged in providing the students with a more humane formation, not a purely technical one.
