IDOSOS DE GOIÂNIA: UM NOVO ESTÍMULO AO CRESCIMENTO ECONÔMICO

Abstract

That dissertation has for purpose to understand the situation actual of the third age people in Brazil, especially, in the city of Goiânia, capital of the state of Goiás, in the Center of the country, under the context of changes caused by the “Senior Citizen Statute”, approved in October of 2003. The related concepts in different knowledge areas will be also approached, evaluating, in a general way, the behavior of the old of the city after the retirement, as well as, the form as the society interact with that elderly group. The present work adopted bibliographical and empiric research, by the application of a questionnaire model, to a sample of people of the third age and their caretakers, living in different neighborhoods of Goiânia. The obtained results indicate that, after the approval of the “Senior Citizen Statute”, the society is not aware about the rights checked to the third age and those conquests don't receive the deserved respect. However, the information obtained in the empiric research demonstrate that, after the retirement, the aged population is returning to the job market, generating new economical dynamics and feeding several sections of the trade and the industry.
