A SEGURANÇA PÚBLICA NO DESENVOLVIMENTO REGIONAL: UMA ANÁLISE DOS PROGRAMAS DE SEGURANÇA PÚBLICA IMPLANTADOS NO MUNICÍPIO DE SÃO LUÍS DE MONTES BELOS(GO)

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze public safety programs implemented in São Luís de Montes Belos-GO. Therefore, it was analyzed conceptual and theoretical aspects from the term police and public safety to understand and contextualize the concepts that have been transforming over time, so then it was identified and analyzed four existing programs in the region: Police Kids, Future Project, Educational Program to Drugs and Violence Resistance (PROERD) and the National Program for Public Security with Citizenship (PRONASCI). These programs are very important to the effectiveness of public security in São Luís de Montes Belos-GO. The chosen methodological option was the analysis of documents and semi-structured interviews with those responsible for the implementation and coordination of these programs. The research result indicates that those responsible for programs understood that public safety depends not only by the public sector but must be an integral part of actions in the area, meaning that society have the security right but is also responsible for it. The axis of the programs is so the society participation. Finally it is emphasized that public safety has influence in the development process of the region.
