QUALIDADE DO GASTO PÚBLICO EM EDUCAÇÃO E SAÚDE: UMA ANÁLISE MICRORREGIONAL EM GOIÁS

Abstract

The present research seeks to analyze the quality of public spending on education and health for all microregions of Goiás. It was used secondary data relating to various social indicators. These indicators are analyzed in comparison with the expenses incurred in education and health in the microregions of Goiás, using the Quality Index of Public Spending (IQGP). From the comparative analysis of the indices of quality of public spending on education and health it was compared the results obtained by other similar studies in other regions of Brazil. Other such studies have concluded that the municipalities that have higher per capita expenditure do not present, for the most part, better performance levels of well-being and thereby create diseconomies of scale. That is, the increased spending does not necessarily lead to payoff in terms of social indicators.
