A PERCEPÇÃO DO TRABALHO DOS AGENTES DE SEGURANÇA PRISIONAL

Abstract

The International Labor Organization considers the profession of Prison Security Officers one of the most dangerous. The bibliography on this subject, although important, is lacking in authors who approach the subject specifically in the State of Goiás. Therefore, this research seeks to investigate the working conditions of the Prison Security Agents of the State of Goiás, with the following objectives: analyze job assignments, identify the conditions of work developed and propose public policies aimed at improving the prison system itself and this category of workers. The prison system is a differentiated work environment and in this environment the Prison Security Agents develop their professional activities, where they can suffer certain pressures in the exercise of the profession, due to the constant and growing demand and the fragile structure. As for the methodology used, this is a qualitative research, in the form of a case study, which aims to identify the factors that characterize the profile of these workers. For this purpose, three units of the prison system of Goiás, which make up the first regional unit, were selected to carry out a more detailed and detailed study. In addition, questionnaires were applied to the agents, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the directors of the selected units, the human resources manager and the professional union representative. Documents, law searches and bibliography were also used. The results show problems that should be analyzed and serve as a basis for the proposal of public policies aimed at improving the working conditions of this follow-up of society.
